Zoho Invoice, Wave or ReceiptPro NG? A Nigerian business comparison
Compare Zoho Invoice, Wave and ReceiptPro NG for a Nigerian business: country availability, free-plan limits, receipts, printing and daily sales workflows.
Searching for invoice software in Nigeria can bring up an invoice generator, an accounting package and a retail POS product together. Before choosing, decide whether you mainly need to request payment for services, issue counter receipts, or manage recurring work and accounts.
This guide is written by ReceiptPro NG. It compares our current workflow with Zoho and Wave's public documentation; it is not an independent hands-on review. Follow the vendor links and try the products yourself. Information was checked on 27 October 2026; availability and limits can change.
Zoho Invoice: investigate client billing and recurring work
Zoho's official Invoice page describes free invoicing software with quotes, templates, sales receipts, recurring invoices, payment reminders, time tracking and expense recording. Those are useful capabilities to investigate if you bill for projects or repeat services. Zoho Invoice and Zoho Books are separate products.
Confirm the applicable edition, current account limits and payment gateways for your Nigerian account. A vendor advertising online payments does not establish support for every Nigerian bank. If recurring invoices and automated reminders are essential, investigate Zoho's documented tools: ReceiptPro NG does not currently provide those automations.
Wave: check country availability first
Wave's official country-support announcement says it focuses on the United States and Canada and discontinued product support elsewhere. It describes restrictions on sending invoices and reminders outside those countries while noting that some existing accounts retain functionality.
For a new Nigerian business, eligibility is therefore an early decision point. Do not assume US or Canadian features apply to a Nigerian account. Existing users should check their account status and export their records before planning a change.
ReceiptPro NG: everyday sales, invoices and receipts in naira
ReceiptPro combines a catalogue, sales records, invoices and receipts for Nigerian small businesses. Services can have descriptions without pretend stock quantities. A saved proforma stays separate from a recorded sale, helping you avoid counting an unaccepted quote as a payment received.
The free Starter plan requires an account and includes up to 50 catalogue items, on-screen documents, a business logo, basic sales records and JSON backup exports. Printing and browser Save as PDF, where supported, need Growth or Pro. Paid WhatsApp receipt sharing sends text through the available workflow; it is not automatic PDF or email delivery.
Growth costs ₦2,000 monthly or ₦20,000 for a prepaid year. Pro costs ₦5,000 monthly or ₦50,000 for a prepaid year and adds custom document colours, themes and fonts. Check the current plan details before paying. Subscription payments are separate from the money customers pay your business.
Cash, manually confirmed bank transfers and externally processed card-terminal payments can be recorded. ReceiptPro does not supply a bank POS machine or automatically reconcile bank payments. It is not a full accounting suite, a kitchen-order system or an automatic multi-branch stock-sync service. Deposits and partial repayments need separate records.
Free invoice generator or free receipt maker: compare the output
An invoice requests payment; a receipt acknowledges a payment you have confirmed. Use a quotation or proforma while a customer is considering your price. An attractive template does not establish that money arrived.
For each free plan, check account requirements, branding, item limits and whether you can save, print, download or send the document. Free on-screen creation may not include PDF export. Our free invoice generator guide and free receipt maker guide show the relevant limits before registration. For a layout example, open the Nigerian A4 invoice sample.
Try the same small workflow in each product
Use fictional records during evaluation. An Abuja accessories shop could test two cables at ₦2,500 each and a phone stand at ₦5,000: ₦10,000 before any applicable adjustments. A service business could test a quote and a later confirmed payment instead.
- Add one good or service and check its unit and naira price.
- Save a quotation and confirm it is not reported as payment received.
- Record one sample paid sale and review the total and payment status.
- Inspect an A4 invoice and compact receipt on your phone or PC.
- Test your actual printer if your chosen plan includes printing.
- Check staff permissions and export a sample backup.
For counter selling, use the Nigerian POS software checklist. A restaurant needing table orders, kitchen tickets or ingredient tracking must check those separately. An invoicing product should not be assumed to include them.
Choose a workflow you can maintain
Country availability, document output, staff access and recovery arrangements matter more than a generic best-software label. If client billing dominates your day, test that first. If counter sales matter most, complete checkout from beginning to end.
