How to use ReceiptPro in a phone accessories or electronics shop
Set up clear SKUs, scan known products and record accessories with fitting services. Follow a naira sale while keeping transfers, stock and quotes accurate.
Two cables can look almost identical while having different prices, connector types or lengths. A phone accessories seller needs a reliable way to choose the correct item before taking payment. ReceiptPro can use catalogue names and SKU references to reduce that guessing. It does not automatically identify a product's specifications from its photograph or turn one barcode into a complete supplier catalogue.
1. Build a catalogue people can distinguish
Create your free Starter account, choose Shop / retail, and enter your business details. In Standard Mode, open Inventory and add goods with specific names such as “USB-C cable — 1 metre” and “Screen protector — Model A”. Avoid using “charger” for several different products.
Enter the actual selling price, stock quantity and selling unit. Use a distinct SKU or barcode reference for each item you need to identify separately. A supplier barcode is useful only when it consistently refers to the exact product you are selling. Check it against the record before putting it into daily use.
There is no serial-number, warranty-registration or automatic authenticity-checking system in this workflow. If you need to track a serial or a warranty promise, retain a separate, traceable record linked to the transaction. Do not infer those features from the presence of a barcode scanner.
2. Combine goods with a genuine service
Suppose you charge for applying a screen protector. Add “Screen protector fitting” as a Service item in Standard Inventory with a ₦1,000 fee. The protector itself remains a stock-tracked goods item. This keeps the physical product separate from the work you performed.
For this fictional example, with tax and discounts omitted, the basket is:
- Two USB-C cables at ₦2,500: ₦5,000.
- One screen protector at ₦3,500: ₦3,500.
- One fitting service at ₦1,000: ₦1,000.
- Total: ₦9,500.
Only the two cable units and one protector should leave goods stock. The fitting service does not need a fake opening stock of one hundred. An optional direct service cost can help your records, but a zero cost entry is not proof that providing the service cost you nothing.
3. Scan, review and take the right payment route
In Standard Mode, open Point of Sale. On a phone, the New sale screen offers Scan barcode, search and Add item when your role permits catalogue changes. Scanning a known code adds its matched item to the basket; check the displayed quantity before tapping the same product again.
If a code is unknown, verify what the customer is buying rather than inventing a price. An authorised owner can add the item, subject to the catalogue limit. A restricted cashier should ask the owner to add it. The name, price and quantity still need checking even when the code was recognised.
Choose Review sale and check the ₦9,500 total on Payment. If the customer transfers the money, check your own bank account before using I received this payment and then Record payment. A reference alone never confirms receipt. For Card terminal, check the actual terminal result; ReceiptPro is not the card processor.
4. Prepare a company quote without reducing stock
A business customer may request six cables before purchase approval. From Easy Mode choose Create Invoice, or open Invoice Generator in Standard Mode. Enter the customer and quantities, keep it as a proforma, and choose Save proforma. A quote can be corrected or deleted without changing sales, stock, expenses or customer debt.
Do not treat a quote as stock reservation or proof of payment. Recheck available quantities before the separate Record sale confirmation. Growth and Pro are required for fully unpaid credit sales. Deposits and partial repayments need separate records because ReceiptPro does not automatically allocate them to an invoice. Review the proforma workflow.
5. Make the receipt and closing checks useful
Keep item names legible enough that someone can identify the connector, model or service later. Your business logo can sit at the left, centre or right. Starter includes on-screen documents and up to fifty shared catalogue items, including services. Growth adds printing, browser Save as PDF where supported and WhatsApp text receipt sharing. Pro adds custom colours, fonts and broader protected team roles. Test your actual browser and printer instead of assuming every receipt printer will work identically.
At closing, compare sales with cash, confirmed transfers and terminal records. Investigate unexplained stock changes and save an exported backup away from the sales device. If you also repair devices, follow the repair-technician tutorial; it treats repair work as a service rather than a sale of replacement stock alone. Read the POS overview before assigning staff to the protected online workspace.
